JD Sports DC – Rochdale
In 2011, OEI were awarded the contract to undertake the mechanical installation of a tote handling system for JD Sports’ new national distribution centre in Rochdale.
The new system consisted of a 210m SDS cross belt sorter including over 200 no. automatic 2-tier sorter chutes, Amberflex spiralveyor, a 4000mm complex multi-tier tote picking system, Transnorm garment handling belt conveyors, system pneumatics and the supply and installation of work benches.
Since the main installation, OEI have returned to site on many occasions to add extensions and upgrades to their existing system, including an extensive new picking system over 5 levels, which will be in use as of Christmas 2014
